Visiting an Amusement park : That ride was scary!

1. White-knuckle 겁에 질린

- very afraid

Joints in your fingers / make a fist / squeeze

a white-knuckle movie / ride / moment / boxing match / flight

It was a white-knuckle flight with a lot of turbulence.

2. chicken out 겁을 먹고 그만두다 / 꽁무니를 빼다

- to refuse to do something due to fear

so afraid that you stop doing something

too scare to do anything

call somebody a scary cat

A : I don't think I'm going to ski down the expert slope with you.

B : Don't chicken out! You're an excellent skier.

3. break out in a cold sweat 공포나 걱정 때문에 (식은땀)이 나다

- frightened or anxious and begin to sweat

so nervous that you start sweating

Your nerve system is reacting.

When it was my turn to give blood, I broke out in a cold sweat.


My own setances

I usually don't go to an amusement park because I have acrophobia.

I really hate the white-knuckle moment when I ride some scary rides such as roller coasters, viking etc.

However, my friends encouraged me not to chicken out when we went to an amusement park so I've ridden those scary rides and I broke out in a cold sweat.
