The waiter hooked me up with a free dessert since it was my birthday.

2.knock something off ~의 값을 인하하다.

-to reduce the number or price of something

negotiate price.

knock off가 명사로 쓰이면 짝퉁, 모조품이라는 뜻

a knock-off = fake designer items / bags

A : How much is your rent?

B : Only $600 a month. The landlord knocked off $200 because of the construction noise.

A : 월세가 얼마예요?

B : 한 달에 600달러밖에 안 해요. 공사 소음 때문에 집주인이 200달러를 깎아 줬어요.
